A Beautiful Christmas 2016

The beauty gods have been generous, leaving lots of skincare and makeup on my desk

I must be on a whole lot of beauty brands’ nice list, as I got to go to a number of Christmas parties (where I stocked up on some supplies) and would occasionally find some pretty gifts on my desk too.

To start with, the parties! Sephora had its first ever Holiday Soiree  on December 7, 2016 at KLCC and it was held in partnership with Malaysian songbird Ayda Jebat. There, she gave us insight into her favourite Sephora gift sets and some beauty tips to live by.

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials, RM125

During the event I managed to get my hands on the Naturally Pretty Essentials palette from It Cosmetics. It came together with a mascara for a mere RM60 thanks to the gift voucher they gave us at the door. A total steal as the travel-friendly eye shadow palette has six matte colours and one shimmer shade that can be used solo or together, for a total of 13 shades in one!

Sephora’s version of a red carpet. The store’s beauty advisors gave each guest a very warm (and loud) welcome to the party

Then, the very next day, Make Up For Ever held its flagship store opening in Pavilion KL. There, we were treated to food, drink, more shopping vouchers and also a personalised pocket mirror (it’s super cute).

There’s no party like a Ken’s party. I got to go to two Christmas parties hosted by Esplanade Avenue – one at Caudalie in BSC and another at Ken’s Apothecary in KLCC. As always, Caudalie’s party was adorned with beautiful Christmas trees and gifts galore. Not forgetting, a ridiculously yummy cheese table since it was brunch time.

To add to the fun, Hubert (the group’s trainer) also got us all to do the mannequin challenge. I’ll update this post with it if I can get my hands on it. Surprisingly, EVERYONE at the event actually stood still. I wasn’t sure if everyone would be in on it, but all the guests did great.

I reckon these gift sets are a steal!

At the Ken’s Apothecary party, we got treated to multiple gifts from the plethora of brands you can find in-store like Ren, Dr Brandt, Marvis and then some. And to really celebrate, there was cake too. And these sugary treats were made by Instafamous cake guru Shaun Teo. He was inspired by the Diptyque Baies candle that’s an olfactive orchestration of roses and blackcurrant leaves, and one of the most iconic of the brand.

These marvellous cake creations, which you’ll see below, boast a creamy mix of five berries sandwiched in between moist, rich layers of chocolate cake. Luckily for us present, we got to sink our teeth into this edible work of art, and it tasted as good as it looks.

The gift-wrapping station at Ken’s Apothecary is where all the Christmas magic happens

Now, for what I’ve been finding sitting pretty at my desk. The two boxes I got most excited about were from Bobbi Brown and La Mer – brands I absolutely adore! Check them out below. Unicorns not included.

Oh. Merry Christmas and blessed new year everyone!

La Mer being generous as usual. The product I’m most excited about is The Renewal Oil. I’ve gone through almost a bottle of this and can’t get enough. I also love how The Concentrate is travel friendly

Travel size everything! You’ll notice I’m getting really excited over pint-sized products due to my upcoming trip. This is the Bobbi Brown Bobbi To The Rescue Detox & Hydrate Set
